MUJC is a Melbourne University's sport club, a community of friends, coming together through learning and practising the sport of Judo. Our goal is for you to have a good time and friendships through Judo.
MUJC is led and managed by its executive committee, aiming to develop and promote Judo as a sport on-campus, for the benefits of Melbourne University's students and the university's community. For training activity, MUJC collaborates with various coaches, judo practitioners, and secondary external training venues.
MUJC is not founded, owned, led, or operated by any one single instructor, external vendor or organisation.
MUJC offers classes for beginners and more advanced training sessions and pathways to competition opportunities for higher-level players.
MUJC is affiliated with Judo Victoria and Judo Australia, the official governing bodies of the sport of Judo in Victoria and Australia respectively.
Judo is a physically and mentally demanding martial art and combat sport. It takes a long time and a lot of efforts to get good at and to gain the benefits. We promote an attitude toward safe and sustainable training to minimise avoidable injuries and ensure you are able to enjoy Judo for a long time.
We recognise and respect that everyone practises Judo (or any other martial arts and sports) for different reasons, that they have different goals, level of fitness, personality, learning capability, and commitment.
We aim to foster a welcoming, physically and psychologically safe, inclusive, and respectful environment.
We encourage you to train at a pace and level that are suitable for yourself AND your training partner.
We encourage you to develop and follow your own paths and achieve your own goals.
We appreciate, and love to connect with, and learn from different people.
